Mar Gregorios of Parumala is the only declared Saint of the Malankara Orthodox Church. He led a life of total dedication to God. He was a Bishop who held a very high sense of missionary spirit. He was an educationalist who founded English School at a time when school were hand few in Kerala.

Geevarghese Mar Gregorios was born on 15, 1848 in the famous Syrian Christian family named Chathuruthy in the village of Mulanthuruthy in Kerala. He was ordained a deacon at the age of ten , a priest at eighteen and Bishop at twenty-eight. His soul was called to rest at the age of 54 on Nov. 2, 1902. His body was enshrined at the Parumala Seminary Chapel.
The Church canonized and declared him a Saint in the year 1947.

He loved us and intercedes to God for the distressed, through Jesus Christ. Thousands from all castes and creeds approach him with their miseries and need and enjoy miraculous solace.
